Proper operation and maintenance are crucial when using cold storage, as they ensure stable operation, reduce failures, and extend the lifespan of the facility. Here are the main precautions to consider when using cold storage:

 

1. Keep the Cold Storage Clean

Maintaining cleanliness inside the cold storage is fundamental to its normal operation. Regularly clean the interior to prevent the accumulation of dust, dirt, and mold, which is especially important for cold storage facilities that handle food. Floors, walls, and shelves inside the cold storage should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to ensure a hygienic environment, preventing food contamination and the development of unpleasant odors.

 

2. Control Temperature and Humidity

The temperature and humidity levels within the cold storage are critical for preserving stored items. It’s important to set appropriate temperature and humidity parameters based on the characteristics of the stored goods. Excessive humidity can lead to frost formation, affecting cooling efficiency and increasing energy consumption, while low humidity may cause food dehydration and spoilage. Therefore, equipping the cold storage with suitable temperature and humidity control devices and regularly checking the accuracy of sensors are necessary.

Operators should undergo professional training, be familiar with the operating procedures of the equipment, and possess basic troubleshooting skills. In the event of emergencies such as power outages or equipment failures, they should promptly follow the established plan to prevent losses to the stored items.
